Parish Registers

Picture
The General Register Office holds all official records of Irish birth deaths and marriages from 1864 and of non Catholic marriages from 1845.  But to find out more about the people who lived in Stillorgan and Blackrock we need to look to the Parish records.

In 1922 Herbert Wood produced Guide to the public record office.   This is a list of everthing that was lodged with the office prior to its destruction.

The list of Church of Ireland Parish Registers for what survives and where it it is, with additional information of Copies, Transcripts and Online Indexes, can be found here.

Stillorgan RC registers are unavailable to view at this time,  but Blackrock RC Baptism records are available to browse here.
To compensate for lack of church records for certain periods, notices of birth death and marriages
for the area have been extracted from a variety of Newspapers.
